Will You Say Goodbye to Bad Eating…?
We just recently started eating clean. I’m unsure how long we will continue this way of eating. However, we do plan to continue to eat healthy. It took me a long time to get here. There were times when we embraced healthy food. Those were the best times of my life. We would go on a detox with the Master Cleanse/Lemonade Diet (all liquid diet) for a few weeks at a time, and it worked. This helped me recalibrate my eating. We consistently transitioned into healthy eating for several months for a year, took a break, and then tried it again a few years later. If we had stayed with this way of life, there is no doubt we would be at our goal weight and, most importantly, be healthy.
The key was to be disciplined, but that was lacking. We wanted what we wanted, and the rest is history…many years later, we were diagnosed with Diabetes. Still, we lacked discipline, which then turned into rebellion. It’s been a few years since the diagnosis, and it’s been a challenge to say the least. Even now, there is still a struggle. We’re at a crossroads. A decision needs to be made…continue to abuse our body or accept we are getting older? Changes need to be made, whether we have the diagnosis or not; if we want a high quality of life, we must embrace healthy eating. Activity/exercise isn’t enough; it must be followed by healthy eating.
The week we made the decision to do better, it was as if we were grieving a loss in which we were. Unfortunately, we used food as a vice. Our perspective on food wasn’t a healthy one. It makes me nervous to say this because our journey of healthy eating has just begun (again). We will remain positive. My husband made the statement the other day, “I’m eating to live, not living to eat.” He’s also on a healthy eating journey, which makes it nice. Even if he wasn’t, we must go on… If we could tell our younger self something, it would be to think about the future and make healthy choices now. Even if we took the “eat in moderation” route, we would be in better shape. So, if you are younger and you are reading this, don’t take your youth for granted by making unhealthy choices because it will be more challenging to change your eating habits later… If you are seasoned and you are reading this, don’t feel it’s too late; you can still make the change and get better results. It’s now or never. You have a choice. What do you say…? Let’s say goodbye to bad eating…
