Why Happy Fit Friday?

Welcome to #HappyFitFriday Chronicles! Well, this blog has been a long time coming. It’s been an interesting journey since we started. We’re approaching 4 years of officially appearing on social media. We started out just walking in the park and enjoying the scenery. Normally, I shy away from public speaking especially creating videos! One day while broadcasting live on Periscope, a viewer asked if I had a blog. Never thought of it…here we are! By the way, the cover picture was taken after a workout on a beautiful day. I was feeling pretty good about my health, wellness and fitness journey.

Yeah, I found myself creating videos during my walks, then Facebook Live was launched, so I went live! Never thought it would come to this point but we’re truly grateful for the journey. Yes, we’ve had our ups and downs, bumps and bruises or hiccups however you want to frame it. I thought about quitting and “chalking it up” as a great experience but a failure on my personal journey. I could hear my son’s voice speaking in my ear, “you know if something happens to you, my brothers and I will stop everything to take care of you.” I also heard the voice of viewers saying how the broadcast is so encouraging… and realized it’s not about me. It’s about making a space where people can come and be encouraged, think about their health and realize the importance of healthy living.  Really, it’s not just a healthy lifestyle but a healthy way of life. It’s become a movement.

We are grateful to have the ability to come and share. Hopefully, it’s something that will encourage and motivate others to think healthy, think about their wellness and fitness. All are different, health of course is dealing with the physical body, making sure you’re not only physically fit but healthy. There are various components to health. We do not claim to be a health, wellness nor fitness expert. We’re just an individual looking to do better health wise and encourage others. Fitness is totally different from being healthy. You can be fit but not healthy because something could be going on internally and you’re not taking care of it by not eating properly and not getting the proper rest can become a problem. Yet, you find time to work out; you can still be unhealthy and be physically fit.

Although you may not have an ounce of fat on you but, if you’re not eating right, you’re not getting the proper rest; again, it can cause diseases and/or illnesses. Also, we want to add the wellness piece, not dealing with mental wellness such as coping with a lot of stress, experiencing depression (which can often cause physical issues) or anxiety is not good. Our mental wellness is just as important as our physical health. Fitness is important as well. It’s vital to stay active. They all “fit” together for good health. Another aspect of wellness is spirituality, if we are not spiritually sound, this can have an adverse effect on our health as well.

So, there’s many components to a healthy way of living. Anything we can say or do to encourage others is our goal. We are here to help make a difference and that’s what we are about. Again, welcome to the #HappyfitFriday Chronicles blog. It’s our hope to be consistent with blogging.
