Patterns…Good Habits, Bad Habits

Have you ever felt like you are going in circles? This may be when you are lost because you circled around the same street saw the same building etc… It can be a fast track to nowhere. Well, this reminds me of patterns that can form in your life. Lately I’ve noticed patterns in my life.

It’s easy to give into your situation, and while you’re in it, you can’t see various behaviors that consistently appear when you’re faced with challenges or events. You must be aware of the activities in your life or the lack of activity in your life. In recent months, I had begun to regain focus on my health, wellness and fitness. All too find it came to a complete halt, when I was faced with having no transportation to get back and forth to the gym or go to various parks for nature walks.  I allow this to be an excuse not to keep moving forward and be active. Yes, to some degree it effected my eating habits. Believe it or not, sometimes discouragement can cause you to look at the negative in a situation instead of a resolution. However, that is no excuse not to press through and make that pivot if necessary.

The reason I’m sharing my experience is because it’s time that we recognize the deviating patterns that effect our health wellness and fitness. Sure, you can compare yourself with others and I know I have. I’ve seen various individuals’ health and fitness journey over the past few weeks. It appears that they are making more progress. A part of me feels I’m on a rollercoaster and I’m not sure if I will ever be able to reach my goal weight and turn things around. But then I realized I cannot compare my journey with someone else’s journey. I remember when I heard an influencer say that it took her 5 or six years to reach her goal weight and, she had to realized everyone’s journey is different. Everyone’s body responds differently. Meaning the way they lose weight, and the approaches people take. It will have a different effect on their body. This influencer realized that it was only when she was consistent in her journey, she began to see results. Granted, it wasn’t as fast as she desired it to be but eventually, her goal manifested with positive results.

Remembering this helps me regain my focus. It helps me be determined, keep moving forward and enjoy the journey. We should always remember that it’s not what happens along the way but how we respond to life. If we look at things with a positive perspective and gain insight that will not only help us but allow us to be an example to others as well. So, with that said I encourage you to look at some areas (and I will do the same) that you can see self-sabotaging behaviors and simply counteract them with positive steps forward.

If you find it too overwhelming to commit to an exercise regimen, try changing your bad eating habits first. After all, it’s National Nutrition Month. You will be ahead of the game by forming good eating habits because nutrition and activity produces optimal results. You will have a head start when you do decide to start exercising.
