Keep Cool

by | Aug 22, 2019 | Fitness, Health, Walking, Wellness | 0 comments

I don’t know about you but this summer has been a hot one in the Midwest. We’ve experienced some muggy days and nights. Honestly, its put a damper on my physical activity. On top of that, our air conditioner went out. It has been a struggle without it. However, we’ve managed to stay somewhat hydrated. I’m finding the older I become the less tolerant I am of hot weather. My transparent moment, this has been an excuse for me not to be consistent with my physical activity. Although we should use wisdom and not overexert ourselves, it doesn’t give us a license to draw back from exercising.

If we eliminate physical activity from our routine, it will be harder to get back on track with a consistent workout. We will need to build stamina all over again, not to mention our muscles will need to adjust to the activity once again. So, a word to the wise, keep moving but use wisdom in this heatwave…be sure to stay hydrated and do not overexert yourself. Workout in the morning or in the cool of the day. Maybe do more workouts indoors in the air condition. Switch up your exercise regimes according to your environment…listen to your body if you’re working out outside or even indoors when it gets too hot. Be safe, stay hydrated and avoid heat exhaustion.
